Rinky Chakma, The 2017 Tripura Miss India Passes Away At 30 Due To Cancer

Rinky Chakma, who represented Tripura at the 2017 Femina Miss India competition, passed away on Wednesday due to Malignant Phyllodes Tumour, a form of breast cancer. Despite undergoing regular treatment and chemotherapy sessions since her diagnosis in 2022, the cancer metastasized to her lungs and eventually her brain, causing a brain tumour.

Following this, Rinky was unable to receive further treatment due to her deteriorating health.

Miss India's official handle announced Rinky's passing, expressing, "Our heartfelt condolences go out to her family and friends during this difficult time. May her soul find eternal peace. Rinky, your legacy of purpose and beauty will forever be remembered. You will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing you."

Tripura Miss India 2017 Rinky Chakma passes away due to cancer

Last month, Rinky shared her cancer journey on Instagram, discussing the pain she and her family experienced due to her illness. She also revealed that her family was struggling financially after paying for her therapy for the past two years.

In the heartfelt post, Rinky wrote, "I just wanted to let everyone know that me and my family is going through a rough time and the last 2 years have also not been easy with regular hospital stays and visits. I am accepting donations as of now because we have exhausted all our savings on my treatment since the last two years."

Earlier, model and pageant competitor Priyanka Kumari announced a fundraiser for Rinky's treatment on Instagram. She shared Rinky's medical reports and requested help from people to pay for her treatment.

On February 22, Rinky was taken to Max Hospital in Saket where her condition was declared critical. She was put on ventilator support in the ICU, but unfortunately, Rinky couldn't make it.

Rinky represented the state of Tripura at the Femina Miss India pageant in 2017. During the competition, she was awarded the titles of Miss Congeniality and Beauty With a Purpose.
