This is the year to celebrate love, laughter, and happily ever after. Speaking of the same, Bollywood actress Sonakshi Sinha finally tied the knot with her long-time boyfriend Zaheer Iqbal in an intimate ceremony on June 23. The two have been dating for the past seven years.

For the uninitiated, the two actors started dating in 2017. However, neither of the two have been vocal about their personal lives. The bride has always preferred to be low-key about her relationship with the actor. The groom made his Bollywood debut with the 2019 release, The Notebook.

Sonakshi Sinha and Zaheer Iqbal got married under the Special Marriage Act at her residence in Mumbai. They completed the official marriage formalities and are officially husband and wife.

The actress, who is also the daughter of legendary actor-turned-politician Shatrughan Sinha, is acclaimed for her incredible performances in movies like Dabangg and Lootera. Her last successful stint was in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar.

The newlywed bride was pretty psyched and excited about all the pre-wedding rituals. Her house, located in Mumbai's Juhu, was lit up right before the wedding ceremony.

Sharing a series of adorable wedding pictures on Instagram, the newlyweds wrote, "On this very day, seven years ago (23.06.2017), in each other's eyes, we saw love in its purest form and decided to hold on to it. Today, love has guided us through all the challenges and triumphs leading up to this moment, where, with the blessings of both our families and both our gods, we are now man and wife. Here's to love, hope, and all things beautiful with each other from now until forever."

Sonakshi and Zaheer's wedding reception is scheduled to happen in Dadar's Bastian. It is sure to be a star-studded affair, with several Bollywood biggies, politicians, friends, and families coming together to celebrate their love.

The Heeramandi actress's co-star, Aditi Rao Hydari, and her fiance, Siddharth, were seen arriving at her residence. Salman Khan's sister, Arpita Khan, was also spotted along with her husband, Ayush Sharma.

The lovely couple's union marks yet another Bollywood interfaith marriage. Several Hindu actresses from the film fraternity have married into families of other religions, thus becoming a subject of discussion.

However, Zaheer's father, Iqbal Ratansi, had previously confirmed that the marriage would not include Hindu or Muslim rituals. "It will have neither Hindu nor Muslim rituals. It will be a civil marriage," he said in a chat with the Free Press Journal.

He also dismissed the rumors of the Mission Mangal actress converting to Islam, saying that it was the union of two hearts and religion had no part in it.

"She is not converting, and that is for sure. Theirs is a union of hearts, and religion has no role to play whatsoever. I believe in humanity. God is called Bhagwan by Hindus and Allah by Muslims. But at the end of the day, we are all human beings. My blessings are with Zaheer and Sonakshi," Ratansi said.
