Triptii Dimri Recalls Not Knowing Acting, Would Go Home And Cry

One of the rising stars who made her way to the big screen in 2018, Triptii Dimri became a household name after her incredible performance in Laila Majnu. Helmed by Sajid Ali, the film also featured Avinash Tiwary. The film was re-released in theaters after six years and received a phenomenal response.

While the 2018 release was her entry ticket to Bollywood, it was with OTT shows like Bulbul and Qala that rose the actress to fame. She will now be seen in Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video alongsdie Rajkummar Rao.

Ahead of her upcoming romantic comedy's release, Triptii Dimri opened up on challenges she faced while filming Laila Majnu, how she was scared of playing the part, and everything in between.

Triptii Dimri recalls being scared and crying

Did you know the actress had originally failed the casting audition for the film. However, the casting director requested to try again, saying she was the perfect fit as she looked like a Kashmiri woman.

Soon, she landed the part, and the rest is history. While the film was a box office disappointment, Dimri's performance was highly lauded by fans and critics alike.

In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the Bad News actress opened up about the time when she didn't know the 'a' of acting and how she used to be scared during the workshops.

"Even then, I didn't know acting. I would sit in workshops with my director, Sajid Ali, and (co-star) Avinash Tiwary, and they would have discussions on acting, backstory, and characterizations," Triptii said.

She further added, "I would just sit there, blank-faced, not knowing anything. I would go home and cry, thinking, 'Am I doing the right thing?' because I didn't understand what they were saying or their language. But I was too scared. When you're there and not getting anything, you feel like a fool, right? I would feel like a fool every single day, she mentioned, thanking Sajid Ali for helping her understand the character of Laila."

On the work front

The actress will next be seen in Raaj Shaandilyaa's Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video. The romantic comedy brings together Tripti Dimri and Rajkummar Rao for the first time on the big screen.

Also starring Vijay Raaz and Mallika Sherawat in prominent roles, the film is slated to release on October 11 in cinemas near you. It will clash with Alia Bhatt's Jigra.

Apart from this, Triptii also has Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 alongside Kartik Aaryan and Vidya Balan. The film will see a Diwali 2024 release.
