The Cannes Film Festival is coming to a close soon. The 77th Annual Cannes Film Festival lasted for 11 days, from May 14 to 25. The festival involved the screening of hundreds of different films in several languages from across the globe. Celebrities and artists belonging to the film industry from all over the world attended the prestigious event to represent their nation.
The Honorary Palme D’Or, or the event’s highest award, was given to Meryl Streep, an American actress popular for her versatility and talent. Another Palme D’Or was presented to Japan’s animation company Studio Ghibli, which is popular for films like Howl’s Moving Castle, Princess Mononoke, and Kiki’s Delivery Service, among others. The last honorary award was presented to George Lucas, who’s known for making global blockbusters like Star Wars and Indiana Jones.
The Cannes 2024 closing ceremony will be held on May 25, 2024, at 6:45 p.m. in France. According to IST, it will start at 10:15 p.m. on Saturday night. During the closing ceremony, the fourth Palme D’Or will be presented to the best feature film, which is in competition. The winners will be decided by a jury of nine. Greta Gerwig, the director of 2023’s popular film Barbie, will be the jury president to decide the final winner of the film festival.
There are 22 films nominated for the final round. All these films will be screened again on the last day of the Cannes Film Festival, before the closing ceremony. Audiences from around the world can enjoy the Cannes closing ceremony online on the Brut channel’s live stream.

Notable Indian celebrities who have been in the film industry for a while were seen at this year’s Cannes Festival. Aishwarya Rai, Urvashi Rautela, Aditi Rao Hydari, Sobhita Dhulipala, and Kiara Advani were among the top Btown celebrities to grace the event.
This year, a number of social media influencers turned heads at the Cannes red carpet. Among them, the most notable were Nancy Tyagi, Ayush Mehra, Ankush Bahuguna, Niharika, Aastha Shah, Raahi Chadha, Vishnu Kaushal, Karishma Gangwal, and Viraj Ghelani.
