International Emmy Awards 2023: Ekta Kapoor `Brings Home Emmy`

Ekta Kapoor won the prestigious Directorate Award at the 2023 International Emmy Awards. She became the first Indian woman filmmaker to receive the honor. Before her, only Subhash Chandra, Chairman Zee TV, won the award in the 2011 edition.
This comes as a moment of great pride for her and the entire Indian film fraternity. Her contributions to Indian film and television cannot be ignored, as she paved the way for a new kind of show in the early 2000s that changed television forever. She is known for producing shows like Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, Kasauti Zindagi Ki, and Kahani Ghar Ghar Ki.
Sharing the news with everyone on Instagram, Ekta wrote, "India, I’m bringing home YOUR Emmy". Celebrity chef and filmmaker shared her on Instagram and wrote, "EKTAA OWNED THE INTERNATIONAL EMMY AWARDS 2023 TODAY. So much authenticity, pride, and dignity. Every word was from the heart. This is for our motherland. #CreatingHistory".

Speaking about the honor herself, Ekta Kapoor said, "I am delighted to receive the prestigious Emmys Directorate Award! It brings me immense joy and happiness to be honored on a global scale, such as this. I’ve always wanted to tell stories because they give me a chance to be heard, seen, and represented."
Further, she expressed her gratitude towards the audience and said, "I am grateful for the audience`s love that has opened doors for me, allowing me to transition from television to the world of films and OTT. Each story that I told became a bridge to connect with audiences on many levels. The unexpected turns this journey took are a testament to the power of love showered by the people of India and beyond.
Apart from her stint at producing popular television shows that became a sensation for the masses, Ekta has been producing films under the banner Balaji Telefilms that go on to redefine what works in the industry. With her choice of films, she has broken new ground in choosing distinct subject matters and giving voice to new and emerging voices.
Her last release as a producer was the Bhumi Pednekar starrer, Thank You For Coming, which was well-appreciated by everyone.
