The prestigious Palme d`Or award was won by Sean Baker`s comedy-drama, Anora. However, the Indian filmmaker scripted history as she represented the country on the global map with her cinematic magic.
Amidst the success of All We Imagine As Light, India`s Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Payal Kapadia for her glorious win at the Cannes Film Festival.

Modi`s tweet read, "India is proud of Payal Kapadia for her historic feat of winning the Grand Prix at the 77th Cannes Film Festival for her work `All We Imagine as Light`. An alumnus of FTII, her remarkable talent continues to shine on the global stage, giving a glimpse of the rich creativity in India."

"This prestigious accolade not only honors her exceptional skills but also inspires a new generation of Indian filmmakers," he further added.
Narendra Modi was not the only politician-leader to have congratulated Payal Kapadia. He was joined by many known names in Indian politics, such as Anurag Thakur and Rahul Gandhi.
The Minister of Information and Broadcasting, Anurag Thakur, also took to social media and applauded Kapadia`s historic win at the international film festival.
Thakur tweeted, "Many congratulations to FTII alumnus Payal Kapadia for winning the Grand Prix at the 77th Cannes Film Festival for her film All We Imagine as Light. This makes it the first Grand Prix win for the country and a nomination in the Palme d`Or after 30 years."

"Bharat`s creative economy is indeed shining, with three films winning awards this year at Cannes," he further wrote.
The Congress leader, Rahul Gandhi, also extended his heartfelt congratulations to the Indian filmmaker and appreciated her work. He also mentioned Anasuya Sengupta, the Indian diva who won the Best Actress Award at Cannes 2024.
His tweet read, "Indian stars are shining bright at the 77th Cannes Film Festival! Congratulations to Payal Kapadia and the entire team of `All We Imagine As Light` for clinching the prestigious Grand Prix award."

Along with the political leaders, the filmmaker was also lauded by many celebrities from the Indian film fraternity.South superstar Mohanlal congratulated Kapadia and wrote, "A momentous occasion for Indian cinema as Payal Kapadia, Kani Kusruthi, Divya Prabha, Chhaya Kadam, and the talented team behind "All We Imagine as Light" bask in glory!"
Other actors like Mammotty, Ranveer Singh, Priyanka Chopra, and Richa Chadha, among others, also congratulated Payal Kapadia for putting Indian cinematic magnificence on global display.
