In another instance of video morphing, Alia Bhatt`s deepfake video has been doing the rounds on social media. This comes after some fabricated videos of actresses like Rashmika Mandanna, Kajol, and Katrina Kaif went viral, causing an uproar about this new technology.
In the video, another woman is seen making gestures with her hands. On the woman`s face, Alia Bhatt`s face is morphed to make it look like a real video. This has further sparked debates about the use of AI deepfake technologies that are putting the identities of women in danger.
Alia Bhatt has not yet reacted to the video, and it remains to be seen what action she takes.
Earlier, Rashmika Mandanna had put out a statement after many other celebrities came out in her support. Amitabh Bachchan called for action against the accused.
Rashmika had written, "I feel really hurt to share this and have to talk about the fake video of me being spread online. Something like this is honestly extremely scary, not only for me but also for each one of us who is vulnerable to so much harm because of how technology is being misused."
Further, she added, "Today, as a woman and as an actor, I am thankful for my family, friends, and well-wishers, who are my protection and support system. But if this happened to me when I was in school or college, I genuinely can’t imagine how I could ever tackle it. We need to address this as a community and with urgency before more of us are affected by such identity theft."
She had tagged some cyber police handles as she tweeted her statement. This is a deeply concerning development that has surfaced where Bollywood actresses are tagetted with morphed videos and photos.
On the workfront, Alia Bhatt is still shooting for her upcoming film Jigraa. It is directed by Vasan Bala and will be released in 2024. She won the award for Best Actor in the Web Original Film category at the Filmfare OTT Awards 2023 for her performance in Darlings.
