Fans of the global phenomenon Squid Game have been eagerly awaiting any updates on the show`s second season. On September 20, Netflix dropped the much-anticipated teaser for Squid Game: Season 2, revealing exciting details about the continuation of the Emmy-winning survival drama. With a fresh set of challenges and familiar faces, this season promises to be as intense as ever. The new episodes will be available to stream on Netflix starting December 26.
The teaser opens with the return of the iconic Seong Gi-hun, played by Emmy Award-winning actor Lee Jung-jae. Reprising his role as Player 456, Gi-hun is seen in his signature green tracksuit, standing among new contestants. His journey back into the deadly game is sure to be one of the most exciting storylines this season.
One of the most intriguing moments in the teaser shows Gi-hun holding a gun to the masked overseer of the game, known as the Front Man (played by Lee Byung-hun). At the end of Season 1, Gi-hun vowed revenge, and his resolve appears stronger than ever. His determination to confront the elusive Front Man will likely be a key plotline as the stakes rise in the second season.
The teaser also hints at the thrilling and mysterious challenges that will be featured in Season 2. In one scene, viewers catch a glimpse of a disco-lit room and an overhead shot of a bare rectangular arena, dominated by a large tree at one end. Competitors seem to be divided into two groups, encircled by rainbows on the floor, adding a new layer of intrigue to the competition.
Netflix also shared a poster with the ominous text, “The Game Will Not Stop.” A day later, Netflix captioned the teaser with, “The game never stops. Are you ready to play? SQUID GAME SEASON 2 arrives December 26.”

The series is directed, written, and executive produced by Hwang Dong-hyuk, who previously revealed that the third and final season of Squid Game will premiere in 2025. Hwang shared, “Seong Gi-hun, who vowed revenge at the end of season one, returns and joins the game again. Will he succeed in getting his revenge? Front Man doesn’t seem to be an easy opponent this time either. The fierce clash between their two worlds will continue into the series finale in season three, which will be brought to you next year.”
