Vicky Kaushal Announces New Project “Mahavtar” on Lord Parshurama With Maddock

Bollywood actor Vicky Kaushal has revealed an exciting new venture, “Mahavatar,” in collaboration with Maddock Films. Set to be a large-scale epic, this mythological drama will delve into the powerful tale of Chiranjeevi Parashurama, an iconic figure in Hindu mythology. Vicky Kaushal, known for his versatile roles, takes on the role of Parashurama, promising audiences a unique cinematic experience blending ancient legend with contemporary storytelling.
With Vicky Kaushal in the lead, the film aims to provide an epic retelling of the tale of Parashurama, also known as the sixth avatar of Lord Vishnu, revered as a warrior, protector, and eternal symbol of dharma. Sharing the news on social media, Vicky Kaushal wrote, “Dinesh Vijan brings to life the story of the eternal warrior of dharma! Vicky Kaushal stars as Chiranjeevi Parashurama in #Mahavatar, directed by Amar Kaushik. Coming to cinemas - Christmas 2026!”
In the first-look posters revealed by Maddock Films, Vicky Kaushal appears almost unrecognisable. Sporting a rugged beard, long hair, and dressed in a rust-colored dhoti, he is adorned with Rudraksha beads on his wrists and arms, embodying the essence of a warrior sage. Armed with a weapon, likely the legendary Parashu (axe) associated with Parashurama, Kaushal’s look has generated significant buzz among fans, eagerly awaiting his transformation in this role.

As the sixth avatar of Vishnu, Parashurama’s mission was to rid the Earth of the tyrant Chakravarti Samrat Karthaveerya Arjuna, whose reign had become corrupted by ego and oppression. Parashurama’s journey, marked by strength, penance, and resilience, symbolises the eternal struggle for justice and virtue.
“Mahavatar” will be directed by Amar Kaushik, the filmmaker behind hit movies like Stree and Bhediya. With Kaushik’s vision and Maddock Films’ ambitious production scale, Mahavatar promises to blend the richness of mythology with a modern cinematic experience. The film, set to start production in November 2025, will be Vicky Kaushal’s second collaboration with Maddock Films following Chhaava, which is also currently in production.
