At times, there are some characters who play a small role but leave a big impact on the audiences. They become an integral part of the story without whom, it would feel like an incomplete puzzle. From Taran in Yeh Jawani Hain Deewani to Kantaben in Kal Ho Naa Ho, here are some of our favorite side characters who deserve a story of their own.
1. Kalki Koechlin as Natasha: Zindagi Na Milegi Dobaara
Think about staying in a relationship with someone who is the queen of red flags, Natasha (Kalki Koechlin) from Zindagi Na Milegi Dobaara would be the first one to pop up in your mind. Having said that, her transition from a rather independent and fun-loving woman to her fiancé's pet needs a story of its own. Also, after breaking up with Kabir (Abhay Deol), does she find someone who will love her for who she is?
2. Tarun Arora as Anshuman: Jab We Met
What if we told you Anshuman was not exactly the villain of the story? Wait, hear us out. He freaked out when Geet (Kareena Kapoor) suddenly came to his doorstep, asking him to elope and settle in the mountains. As dreamy as it sounds, he was rather pragmatic. What would be interesting to see is how Anshuman and Geet fell in love. How he used to secretly meet Geet outside her hostel What if they were actually to elope and get married while Aditya (Shahid Kapoor) fell in love with Roop?
Interesting take, isn't it?
3. Lisa Haydon as Vijaylaxmi: Queen
Forget Naina and Aditi; we need a BFF like Vijaylaxmi who will help us heal and find our worth. "Vijay nahi toh kya, Vijaylaxmi toh hain!" Here's us manifesting this kind of friendship without any toxicity or complications.4. Kunal Roy Kapur as Taran: Yeh Jawani Hain Deewani
Who needs Bunny or Avi when you have Taran? The film made us believe in arranged marriages, and at times, taking a leap of faith is the best decision you can make.We truly felt it when Aditi said, "Kabhi kabhi kisi ke saath waqt bitaane se sab kuch theek ho jata hain."
5. Sulabha Arya as Kantaben: Kal Ho Naa Ho
If there's one Karan Johar movie that made us shed a tear, it has to be Kal Ho Naa Ho. While Shah Rukh Khan, Preity Zinta, Saif Ali Khan, and Jaya Bachchan delivered an incredible performance, it was Kantaben who stole the show for us.The homophobic, hand-trembling nanny had barely two scenes in the movie but left a longer impact. Enough to have thoroughly entertained us throughout an emotional film.
