Nitin Desai Death: Akshay, Abhishek Postpone OMG 2, Ghoomer Trailer Release As A Mark Of Respect

Prominent Bollywood art director Nitin Desai died after he hanged himself to death on August 2. The sudden demise of the art director has left the nation in shock. Nitin was found dead in his art studio in Karjat. As per the reports, he was drowning in a huge debt. Amidst the saddening news, Abhishek Bachchan and Akshay Kumar have decided to postpone the release of their upcoming movies Ghoomer and OMG 2.



This comes amidst the shocking news of Nitin Desai's suicide. Many actors, including Parineeti Chopra and Riteish Deshmukh, expressed shock at the news of his death. Desai was a four-time National award winner.

Abhishek Bachchan postpones the Ghoomer trailer launch

As a mark of respect to the late art director, the Dhoom actor shared a new date for his upcoming film's trailer launch. Taking it to his Instagram stories, Abhishek wrote, "As a mark of respect to our beloved #NitinDesai, we, the team of #Ghoomer, have decided to postpone our trailer release function, which was to be held tomorrow in Mumbai. We will release it the day after, on the 4th of August."


Ghoomer is inspired by the real-life story of a Hungarian right-handed shooter named Karoly Takacs. It also features Saiyami Kher, who plays the role of a disabled left-handed bowler. Abhishek Bachchan will be seen as a tough cricket coach.

Ghoomer is all set to release on August 18 in cinemas near you.

Akshay Kumar postpones the OMG 2 trailer release

Joining the Ghoomer actor is Akshay Kumar, who also announced a new date for his upcoming movie Oh My God (OMG) 2 trailer release. He referred to Nitin Desai's death as a 'huge loss' to the film industry.

Taking it to Twitter, Akshay wrote, "Unbelievably sad to know about the demise of Nitin Desai. He was a stalwart in production design and such a big part of our cinema fraternity. He worked on so many of my films. This is a huge loss. Out of respect, we are not releasing the OMG 2 trailer today. We will launch it tomorrow at 11 a.m. Om Shanti."

Akshay Kumar's OMG 2 also features Pankaj Tripathi and Yami Gautam in prominent roles. The movie will see a theatrical release on August 11.

The prominent art director worked on some incredible Bollywood movies like Lagaan and Jodhaa Akbar. He has designed larger-than-life sets for Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, Devdas, and Bajirao Mastani.

Apart from these, Desai is also credited for Dostana, Once Upon A Time In Mumbai, Munna Bhai MBBS, and Lage Raho Munna Bhai. The art director's last film was Ashutosh Gowariker's Panipat.
