Mohit Chauhan is one of the few soulful singers whose voice is enough to make average lyrics into superhit songs. The singer hails from Himachal Pradesh. His hometown falls in the Nahan area of the Sirmaur district. Amidst the devastating floods in Himachal Pradesh, the singer has issued a heartfelt note. Calling this event scary, he urges fans to conserve life in the mountains.
Having grown up in the beautiful state, Mohit Chauhan says, “To see such calamity hit your home state is scary and heartbreaking”, referring to floods in Himachal Pradesh caused by heavy rains.
He said, “A lot of them are in the areas that are being reported in the news. Given how bad the situation in Himachal is at the moment, I haven’t been able to get through to a lot of my family and friends because their phones are either unreachable or discharged due to the power cuts. When you can’t communicate with your loved ones, a feeling of helplessness sets in. While I haven’t been able to speak to my loved ones directly, through other channels available, I have been assured that family and friends are safe. I am grateful to God for that.”
The singer has often sung songs about the majestic mountains of Himachal. One of his independent songs, Mai Ni Meriye, revolves around the beauty of Chamba, a small village nestled in Himachal.
Amidst the chaotic downpour, Mohit urges everyone to come together and help in the rescue operations carried out by the state.
“The areas where rain is causing havoc are places I have frequented, lived in, and constantly gone back to. While the government is doing all it can to help the situation, it is time for us to come together and help out those suffering,” Chauhan further added.
The Kun Faya Kun singer also urges people to be responsible when carrying out construction in the mountains to avoid such environmental mishaps.
Mohit Chauhan concluded by saying, “It’s high time we start working towards conserving and consolidating life in the mountains. If we respect Nature and use our ancient mountain wisdom when we plan infrastructure development, there is a good chance to lessen the effect of such a catastrophe.”
Sukhu also urges people to stay at home or take shelter in nearby hotels and refrain from stepping out until it is an emergency.
