Latest: Tamannaah Bhatia to Appear Before Maharashtra Cyber Cell in the FairPlay Betting App Case
The Lust Stories 2 actress Tamannaah Bhatia has been summoned by Maharashtra Cyber Cell for questioning with respect to promotion of an app called Fairplay. This app is a sister application of the Mahadev betting app. The Fairplay app allegedly livestreamed a few cricket matches from last year’s league, which caused Viacom to lose a lot of money.
Tamannaah Bhatia is to appear before the cyber cell on April 29. Since the past few months, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has been investigating the Mahadev app case for illegal betting and money laundering. They have made about nine arrests in relation to the crime, which also involves politicians and bureaucrats from Chhattisgarh.

The Dubai police detained Ravi Uppal, one of the two prime suspects in the Mahadev betting app case, last December. Interpol had issued a red notice on behalf of the ED, because of which the accused was detained in Dubai by the local police.
A few days ago, singer and rapper Badshaah also appeared before the Enforcement Directorate for the same case. In addition, Munnabhai actor Sanjay Dutt was also called in for an inquiry, but the actor requested another date due to his schedule.
For the unversed, celebrities like Tamanaahh Bhatia, Badshaah, Jacqueline Fernandez, and Sanjay Dutt promoted an app called Fairplay last year that streamed cricket matches without broadcasting rights. Due to this, the official broadcaster company, Viacom, suffered heavy losses.
The Mahadev betting app was run by Ravi Uppal and Saurabh Chandrakar, who both lived in Dubai. Both individuals hail from Chhattisgarh’s Bhilai. The company gathered gamblers by creating multiple websites and closed groups on social media and chat apps. They also ran paid advertisements to find more customers and encourage them to send their contact details.
The Fairplay app is an online betting platform that offers gambling options for a wide variety of sports and entertainment. It`s alleged that the app broadcast cricket matches illegally so that players could watch and win at the same time.
FairPlay is a subsidiary of Mahadev, which also provides betting options in multiple sports. It was only last year that the app’s illegal activities came to everyone’s attention. Bollywood superstars like Shraddha Kapoor, Huma Quereshi, Kapil Sharma, and Ranbir Kapoor were summoned by the ED for questioning.
